Live By the Three, Die By the Three

Every season I get wrapped up in this NBA crap.
Yes...crap!

The only sport that seems to serve up the most disappointments on a regular basis.
Wait. Unless you're a Jets, Browns, Redskins or Jaguars' fan.
Unfortunately you brought that on yourself.

As I'm patiently awaiting football season, the routine goes a little like this.
Follow the Bulls, OKC & maybe the Wizards.

Tune into their journey as they play a ridiculous amount of games and hopefully they make playoffs.
Maybe they do, maybe they don't.

They fall off at some point.

Okay, choose another team.
Team chosen! They make the finals & so does Lebron.

Why do I bother watching this again?

Best thing about NBA Finals is football is finally around the corner.

A few beach visits, crab feasts, wedding invites and BAM!

They sing to us.. "Are you ready for some football?"

Am I ready? I was ready at last year's SuperBowl halftime !

Hey Warriors! If you live by the 3, you'll die by the 3.

Unless of course it's football season and your kicker's name is Justin Tucker!

 If so - rule void.
You die by the Gatorade showers.

Baltimore Uprising

via Ravens

While we live in a society that isn't always just or moral, chaos is bound to happen. With the Baltimore Police Department's history of brutality, Freddie Gray's untimely death sparked retaliation from many. The city I love and call home has been the subject of mainstream news for weeks. Tensions were high and things got pretty crazy - I'm sure you've heard.

We haven't made this kind of news since the Ravens won the Super Bowl 3 seasons ago ! The city marched to celebrate the Ravens' victory and they marched for Freddie Gray's justice.

So I'm thanking the Ravens for coming out and assisting in the city's recovery.
Reminding young people that there's hope!
Thank you for continuing to be leaders in our community and justifying why we go so hard on Sundays.

I may not pack a canon like Flacco and you'll never hear peers call me Legatron (Tucker) but we're a team!

NFL season has not yet begun but last week you all definitely played like Ravens!

The Orioles are hard at work. Not to mention beating the White Sox 8-2 in the first crowd-less MLB game ever! Through all the chaos, being stuck at Camden Yards, not being able to play, then allowed a game without a crowd - Jones doesn't disappoint.

See Adam Jones' message here

Thank you all. Xoxo

Tell the Truth Tuesday

Being as though, I'm probaly the most honest person you'll ever meet, one would think I would be honest with myself.
I picked Gonzaga to beat Duke.
via Fox

Yeaaaa, laugh it up.
They won the entire thing!
This choice was a result of emotion. I wasn't being honest with myself.

With the Thunder barely hanging on to the 8th seed, my next heartache is accepting Russ won’t get MVP.
Not because OKC fell to Houston Sunday, not because everyone “fears the beard”; but because Steph Curry is playing out of his mind.
The I don’t need to look when I shoot Curry.
The I’ll gladly break your ankles Curry.

 Fine!
But Russ…
via Google Images

He’s the monster without the chainsaw.
He’s the slap in the face for everyone that said he wasn’t a leader.
He has played without Durant or Serge.
11 triple doubles for the season.
All Star MVP.
Russ, you’ll always be my 2014 - 2015 MVP.

Harden…King of free throws.
Go run for mayor! Promise you’ll win.

While reality TV and music aren't exactly girl's best friend.
 I appreciate women like Serena.

LIEBSTER AWARD

Thanks to my nomination by Nikole Debell Beauty for the Liebster award, this isn't your normal post.

Typical Torrey

via ABC News

Football gets pretty grimy, dirty, no holds barred. Depending who the ref is of course.
One of the manliest sports. You play football. You're a man. I mean if your name isn't Tom Brady.

I had to.

Anyway. We don't usually see compassion, pain, love; the human qualities we all share.

While most would crack under such circumstances, Torrey Smith gives us a chance to witness some of his life's ups and downs.

Giving the world somewhat of an inside look, he managed to be chosen by local media to receive  "The Good Guy" Award.

If you follow football, I'm sure you remember when he lost his younger brother Tevin; in a tragic motorcycle accident. Torrey chose to play less than 24 hours later, dedicating his two touchdown passes to his brother.

Torrey receives the Content of Character award today for reminding us how important it is to care about the people and things that don't have material relevance.

It seems the spotlight didn't change him and he knows just how to juggle his celebrity status and be the family man most boys wish to grow up and be.

I think we can all agree, my choice wasn't bias.
