Hometown Hero

First up...

via CBS Sports

To some he's the humble reigning MVP from D.C.

(Insert Wale quote here)

To me, something like a hometown hero.

I mean if he didn't win you over with his MVP speech last year then you're hopeless. Promise there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Need a refresher?

He remembers where he came from and has so much reverence for the people who helped him become K.D.

We all know "NBA Cares"....

via NBA

Remember the tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma ? Killed 24, injured hundreds.

Remember Durant donating $1 million?!
Which then resulted in the Oklahoma City Thunder matching his donation!

This is just one bullet on a list of heartfelt actions.

He's arguably the best but knows just how to separate confident and cocky. He's the good kid you root for even if you're not a Thunder fan.

Why? Because he deserves it!

So today KD gets the "Content of Character" award. Not for last night's 40 points for the 43rd time in his career but for being the Philanthropist whose also an NBA All Star!

3 DAYS UNTIL ALL STAR WEEKEND!

NFL Sunday's Filler

This is the first Sunday since September, that we aren't watching Football.

via DailyNews

Filler anyone?

I got to thinking. Well it is Black History Month and we often see so much of our honorable leaders from the past. How about we touch on some of the positive results of their fearless fight and dedication.

I remember in elementary school, there was an award inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; "Content of Character" award. I received the award in 5th grade and I remember realizing how important it was to be a stand-up guy. Girl in my case.

The entire month of February, I will dedicate a post to a sports role model who makes the most of the opportunities we may not have, if it wasn't for the people who came before us.

Check in every Tuesday and Thursday of this month to see who I'm honoring with my own "Content of Character" award.

Patriotic Duties

Exactly a week ago. A week of pure torture.

Ya know; The torture that comes in forms of text, TV, the radio, coworkers, and don't even think about checking your Instagram feed!

Torture the Patriot way.

I don't know what was more disappointing. Losing to the Patriots or finding out the Panthers loss which meant there wouldn't be a Part two to this .

via NFL Instagram
Sorry Russ...New Kid on the block.

And no I didn't watch the Panthers/Seahawks game. I had to process what just happened.

All I ask is that I cope in peace. I haven't listened to ESPN radio all week, no Sportscenter and please no Man Crush Ugg boot ads.

I blame the fans. You're the reason I will always hate Brady, Belichick and will never purchase a Gillette product! Job well done!

Being as though the Colts are #4 on the shit list, Can't believe I'm saying this...
Go Colts!

Can we just give the Seahawks the Lombardi now or no?

Go Green

I read somewhere the color green creates clarity and balance giving you equality between the head and heart.

Being a girl and all, who loves Sports. I'm wearing green.
(A lime scarf ) Green isn't really my color.

Anyway...
It's NFL Playoff season and things are serious!

We all know how much I love my Ravens and sometimes when asked my opinion on games, outcomes, reasons for stats....

Let's just say I'm not wearing green.

We snuck in the playoffs with help, which I predicted.
We beat the Steelers in the Wild Card round, which I predicted.
I'm claiming we beat Brady in Foxborough!

I mean did you see this infographic?

#InFlaccoWeTrust

Am I confident ? Yes!
Why? Because I'm wearing Green!

NO! It's because I'm a Ravens fanatic. Who am I kidding?!

Plus if this were true, the Jets would be well aware of their demise each year.

In a Quiet "Fashion"

When it comes to political or societal issues, quiet seems like a word pretty much nonexistent.

Everyone wants to be heard, everyone feels their beliefs are right and things get pretty messy.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

What about the athlete whose paid to play but has an opinion.

via ESPN

He or she doesn't march the city streets for hours chanting.

He simply wears a T-shirt in support of a man who lost his life in a very unfortunate situation.

Some fans say "it's not appropriate". "It's offensive" or even distracting.

A T-shirt worn for the duration of a warmup then it's back to the jersey colors you so unapologetically advocate for!

Your touchdowns are still made. You still get your game winning shot right before the buzzer.

They find a way to give you all you came for while exercising their right to an opinion all in a quiet fashion.

Distracting? I say impressive.
